The metals have changed human life forever. Everyone knows how the metals have led to the progress and achievement of current levels of welfare. Can not imagine a world without metals. But when it comes to metals is commonly thought to what are called industrial metals (or base metals): aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, tin, nickel, iron or steel. In fact, the metals that have changed our lives in recent years are the so-called technological metals (or minor metals). The indium, a metal is essential for the production of flat panel TV, and the smatphone cells for solar panels. Tellurium is a metal used to produce optical devices (CD and DVD), photo-diodes and semiconductors. Gemanium is essential for the production of solar panels, night vision devices and fiber optics. These are just some examples of the importance of some metals in the present and future of our technological society. Unfortunately, the availability of many of these metals, industrial metals on the contrary, is very limited and production is concentrated in a few countries (especially China). Many analysts fear that in the coming years the dependence of these metals in the western world will prove to be very critical and the ability to source items will be increasingly difficult and expensive.
