In recent years, molybdenum has found important new uses thanks to the growth of electronics and energy markets. In particular, it is used for the electrodes of the solar-type CIGS technology (the copper, indium, gallium and selenium) and in the future will more and more space in this area is unique as well in adhering to the substrate and active layers of solar panels. There is a strong increase also in CdTe (solar panels modules Cadmium and Tellurium), a technology that is expected to supplant that based on silicon. In the electronics industry molybdenum is used in conventional applications, such as components for X-ray or magnetron (microwave thermionic valve). Because of its high cost it is used, where possible, combined with cheaper metals such as the aluminium. According to the latest research (www.researchandmarkets.com), effective in 2011 by the company NanoMarkets, the factors described above will lead to a greater demand on the part of the molybdenum market in the coming years.
